GARAGE FIRE - GRAPE STREET & SOUTH 5TH

Friday, August 3, 2012  At 0146 hrs. Companies 64, 69 and Tower 79 were dispatched to the area of Grape Street and South 5th in West Reading Borough for reported garages on fire in the alley. LT 64-1 arrived on location confirming 2 garages well envolved. WFD members forced entry by removing roll up doors, opening up rear man doors and removing fencing to help hosline advancement for West Reading and Kenhorst  Engine Companies who extinguished the fires.  WFD members also assisted with scene lighting and overhaul.  Later stand by Company 85,  was dispatched to the scene to assist with overhaul operations.

WFD cleared the scene approx 90 minutes later.

MVA WITH INJURIES - STATE HILL RD. AT GREENWOOD MALL RD.

Thursday, August 2, 2012  At 1600 hrs. Engine 79 was dispatched to the intesection of State Hill Road and Greenwood Mall Rd. for an MVA with injuries. WFD members assessed and stabilized one patient prior to EMS arrival. Vehicle debris was also controlled.

Engine 79 cleared the scene in about 20 minutes.

   


 

ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY PARADE

Wednesday, July 4, 2012  An longstanding tradition in Wyomissing, is the Annual 4th of July Parade. Each year the WFD participates in this great community event and this year was no exception. At the parade's conclusion, people gather at the Wyomissing Stone House for food and fun activities.

     



 

MULTI ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE - WEST COURT BLVD.

Monday, June 25, 2012  At 2351 hrs Companies 85,18, 79 & 11 (RIT) were dispatched to the 000 block of West Court Blvd. for a reported structure fire. Additional reports advised of fire in the living room.  Engine 85-2 o/s reporting a working fire.  Wyomissing firefighters assisted with fire suppression, overhaul and scene lighting.

   


 

ADDITIONAL CAREER FIREFIGHTERS HIRED

The Borough of Wyomissing and the Wyomissing Fire Department are pleased to announce the hiring of two additional Career Firefighters. Firefighter Adam Sites will be assigned as a Platoon Jumper and Firefighter Tom Canto Jr. will be assigned on the A-Platoon.

We would like to wish both men a long and fulfilling career with the WFD! 

   


 

CRANE ACCIDENT - 801 HILL AVENUE

Wednesday, June 13, 2012  Tower 79 was dispatched to 801 Hill Avenue at 1436 hrs. for a reported crane accident.  WFD members assisted EMS with patient care and packaging.

Tower 79 cleared the scene approx. 60 minutes later.

   


 

MVA WITH CONFINEMENT - ROUTE 422 WEST / 222 SOUTH

Saturday, June 9, 2012  At 1855 hrs. Engine 79 and Rescue Engine 85 were dispatched to Route 422 West / 222 South for a MVA with confinement.  Deputy 85 arrived on location with RFD Engine 7 and confirmed 1 SUV on it's side with one victim confined inside the vehicle.  WFD members assisted Spring Township and RFD members with stabilization / extrication.  Members also controlled fluids and debris.

Engine 79 cleared the scene approx. 30 minutes later.

   


 

TRAINING - CUTTING WITH PARTNER SAWS

Wednesday, June 6, 2012  On this night, WFD members drilled on cutting various materials such as wood, concrete and steel with the partner saws carried on Tower 79. Members also practiced cutting rebar while working from ground ladders at various heights. 

     



 

STRUCTURE FIRE - 405 FRANKLIN STREET

Saturday, June 2, 2012  At 1700 hrs. Company 64, 69, T79, E85 and RFD units for RIT, were dispatched to 405 Franklin Street for a reported structure fire, people reporting smoke from the 3rd floor windows.  Crews located a rubbish fire on the 3rd floor and extinguished the fire with 2 pressurized water extinguishers. 

Companies cleared the scene approx. 60 minutes later.  

   


 

MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT - ROUTE 222 SOUTH

Sunday, May 27, 2012  At 1602 hrs. Engine 79 and Rescue 85 were dispatched for an MVA involving 3 vehicles with a rollover and entrapment in the area of the 422 / 222 split. Initial calls were unclear of the exact location, but crews quickly located the accident scene on Route 222 South, under the Berkshire Blvd overpass. Crews from Engine 79 stabilized the vehicle while Rescue 85’s crew completed patient extrication using airbags and hydraulic tools.

Units cleared the scene at 1735 hrs.
